"Life in the Peace Corps will not be easy. There will be no salary and allowances will be at a level sufficient only to maintain health and meet basic needs. Men and women will be expected to work and live alongside the nationals of the country in which they are stationed—doing the same work, eating the same food, talking the same language.

But if the life will not be easy, it will be rich and satisfying. For every young American who participates in the Peace Corps—who works in a foreign land—will know that he or she is sharing in the great common task of bringing to man that decent way of life which is the foundation of freedom and a condition of peace."

New Roof!

Roofs here are grass. Therefore, there is a particular time of the year to reroof. You must wait for a particular grass to be ready, collect it, and then rethatch. Last year my roof was leaky during rainy season so I needed to fix that this dry season. Enjoy the pictures of the process! They all thought it was so silly I was so interested in how it worked, although, it is much different in the States! It’s something I’d never seen before!

  1. The great thing about working or volunteering in other country is you are able to do discover and learn their traditions and culture. It looks so easy compared to what we used to know, and it's environmental friendly. Anyway, congratulations on your new roof. ;-)

  2. This way of re-roofing is totally different from what we are used to. I am as amazed as you are at how the whole process was done. I like its simplicity. The whole process looked so easy and it's also nature-friendly. I just hope it's sturdy enough to get you through the wet season.

  4. Everyone should do some volunteer work for our favorite charity or just somewhere that needs help. People should have social responsibility and care not only for ourselves, but also for the welfare of others. I'm so delighted to see people doing the best that they can to extend a helping hand in whatever manner. Bryon Sedillo
